IUI-Intra Uterine Insemination
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is process in which cautiously prepared semen is placed within the uterus. It is done using a small catheter through the cervix (neck of the womb). Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) is the first step in fertility treatment. We provide the cost-effective method, IUI in India to enhance fertility in a woman. This technique is used to get a high concentration of sperm in the reproductive tract to increase the chance of sperm reaching and fertilizing the egg.
Intra Uterine Insemination is an Artificial Insemination done using husband’s sperm. It is a laboratory process where the fast moving sperm is separated from the more sluggish moving sperm. It is deposited close to the woman’s womb, close to the time of ovulation.
Who needs IUI? Male with....
- Borderline sperm count
- Decreased sperm motility parameters
- Ejaculatory dysfunction
- Unexplained Infertility
Why Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI)?
There are many reasons why a couple would get treatment as an Intra Uterine Insemination. It is advised if the male partner’s sperm count, motility or shape is less than adequate.
IUI gives the sperm a better chance for meeting the egg. The ovulatory mucus is normally thin and stretchy) If a woman having cervical mucus scant or thick or tacky, Intra Uterine Insemination may help to address the problem as IUI allows the sperm to bypass the mucus.
How is the procedure done?
Before the Intra Uterine Insemination, the sperm specimen is prepared. It is introduced into the vagina to visualize the cervix and surrounding vaginal tissues. With the help of tiny catheter attached to syringe, the washed sperm are drawned. Sperm injected into the uterus by passing catheter through the cervix. The catheter and speculum are removed.
Intravaginal insemination (IVI) is quite a simple insemination method that involves the placement of sperm into the woman’s vagina. It’s much alike what happens during sexual intercourse in terms of placement of sperm.
This method of insemination is used when use of donor sperm is advised. This method is recommended when there are no problems with the woman’s fertility.
This form of insemination is not common because its success rate is lower than IUI.
